DMP training classes for first responders in Georgia

DMP, the Department of Emergency Management, is offering a $2,500 online emergency training class on the first responders and disaster response, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

Emergency personnel are needed for:Recognizing an emergency, coordinating efforts, responding to an incident and providing first responder support.

The class begins Oct. 3 and runs for four days.

The training class is only available for Georgia residents and U.S. citizens, the department said in a news release.

Georgia Gov.

Nathan Deal said he is working with the DMP to determine the cost of the online class.

Deal said the state has already offered a training class in Atlanta, but the state will not pay for the one in Georgia.

“If we are able to find an appropriate partner that will be able to pay for that, that’s going to be our next step,” Deal said.

The DMP is also looking for more training classes in other states.

It is offering training in the United Kingdom, the U.K. and New Zealand.
